How to run Translext on a particular app, and what that app's own captions already give you.

By language

What makes a given pair easy or hard in live use — accents, speech rate, word order, script and text direction.

How Translext works

Translext is a Chrome extension that listens to whatever is playing in a browser tab and translates it as it happens. Because it reads the tab's own audio, it works the same way on a video call, a recorded lecture or a live stream — there is no bot to invite to your meeting, no file to upload, and nothing kept once you stop a session.

The platform pages cover the practical side: how to run it on a particular app, and what that app's own captions already do. The language pages cover the linguistic side — accents, speech rate, word order and the places where live translation tends to struggle for a given pair. Both directions of each pair have their own page, because following a language you don't speak and being understood by people who don't speak yours are genuinely different problems.

Which page should you read?

If your question is "will this work on the app we use for standups?", start with a platform page. Those cover the mechanics: joining through the web client instead of a desktop app, how the overlay sits on that particular interface, and what the platform's own captions already give you — Meet and Teams, for instance, both caption the original language but only translate into a limited set of targets, and neither speaks a translation aloud.

If your question is "how well does this actually handle the language I need?", start with a language page. Those cover what makes a given pair easy or hard in live use: how much regional variation you are likely to hit, how quickly people tend to speak, whether word order forces the translation to wait for the end of a clause, and which script and text direction the captions render in. Every pair has a page in each direction, since following a language you don't speak and being understood by people who don't speak yours call for different things.
